Why did you decide to coach sports? | I was a coach before I became a teacher. The field is my classroom, many of my early athletes stayed in school because of sports. Sports are an integral part of being an all-around student. |
What is the most rewarding / fun thing for you about coaching? | Seeing growth, watching a student who is not very athletic but works hard and becomes an important part of the team |
Fun fact you would like to share | I teach at Greeley and coach three sports at Seven Bridges. |
Boys Winter Track Wins First Title Since 1978! Girls Team Produces 2 Champions
The Boys Winter Track team accomplished something that had not been done since peanut farmer Jimmy Carter was President of the United States: a League Title.
Students that won their event include: Ryan Jendzejec in the 600m and high jump; Alexander Stasko in the shot put and weight throw; Bob Ye in the triple jump; and Devin Kidde and Will Darlington tied for first in the pole vault.
Although the girls team didn't pull out a team victory, the team produced two League Champions: Claire Hotchkin in the 600m and Kira Lindner in the weight throw.
Congrats to coach Matthew Ketterer and Winter Track squads!

Track & Field has Historic Night, Will Send Record Seven Athletes to States
by Matty Wasserman ‘21
Wednesday, February 28-- Wednesday was a night full of shattering records for the Greeley Quakers Indoor Track and Field team. Kara Linder furthered both her personal and Greeley record with a suburb 46ft, 1.25in weight throw. That throw landed her both a third place finish, and a ticket to the State Championships on Saturday. Next up was Jessica Cristino, who faced the daunting task of needing to both break a personal record, and finish in the top three to advance to States in the 55m sprint. Cristino would follow through with both tasks, running a 7.43 second qualifying heat, and a 7.38 second sprint in the finals to punch her ticket to States. Sophomore Joseph O’Brien came up just short in the 1600m, finishing in 5th place, while needing at least a third place finish to advance. O'Brien will travel with the team to States as an alternate, and his future is still very bright at Greeley. Running last for the Quakers was Matt Park, Jeremiah LaDuca, Max Notarnicola, and Wesley Ford in the 4x800m. To continue on to States, Greeley needed a time of at least 8:03.54, 1.4 seconds better than their previous best. The Quakers exceeded that with an outstanding time of 8:04.29, good enough for second place and a spot in the State Championships.
Overall, it was a historic day for Greeley, who will be sending seven athlets to states. This easily surpasses as the most athletes Greeley has ever sent to the Indoor Track and Field State Championships, and the last time the Quakers even brought two athletes was 2005. Greeley’s athletes will be highly seeded in multiple events for the State Championships, and they will look to take home the second medal in Greeley Indoor Track and Field history on Saturday.
